Online Ruler Pro respects your privacy. This page explains exactly what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how it is used.
What We Do Not Collect
- Your calibration data is stored locally in your browser using
localStorage. It never leaves your device and we cannot access it. - Your measurements are not transmitted anywhere. Everything runs client-side in your browser.
- Account information. We do not require accounts and do not ask for your email unless you contact us directly.
- Personally identifying information. We never ask for your name, address, phone number, or any other personal details to use the tool.
What We Do Collect
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate. This collects:
- Pages visited and how long you spent on them
- General location (country or region, not precise location)
- Device type, browser, and screen resolution (used to improve calibration defaults)
- Referring website (how you found us)
Google Analytics anonymizes IP addresses by default. You can opt out at any time by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using your browser private-browsing mode.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use:
- Google Analytics cookies for the analytics described above. Lifespan: up to 2 years.
- localStorage for your screen calibration value (key:
orp_pxPerCm_v2). Lifespan: until you clear your browser data. Stored only on your device.
Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have the right to:
- Know what information is collected about you
- Request that we delete any information we hold about you
- Opt out of analytics tracking
Because we do not collect personal information beyond anonymous analytics, there is typically nothing for us to delete. To opt out of Google Analytics, see the link above.
Third-Party Services
- Google Analytics for analytics.
- Google Fonts (Inter font). Google may collect basic request data per their privacy policy.
- Hostinger (web hosting). Basic server logs per their privacy policy.
Children Under 13
Online Ruler Pro is appropriate for all ages, including children using it for school homework. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The site analytics collect only aggregate, anonymous usage data with no personally identifying information.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Substantial changes will be noted on the homepage.
