About Online Ruler Pro

Online Ruler Pro is a free, calibrated online ruler that runs entirely in your browser. We built it because every existing online ruler we tested either showed inaccurate measurements (because they assumed every screen has the same pixel density) or required a download. Neither was acceptable for a tool that should "just work" in 10 seconds.

Our Mission

To provide the most accurate, fastest, and easiest-to-use online ruler available. Completely free, with no ads, no registration, no tracking beyond basic anonymous analytics, and no measurement data leaving your device. Calibration data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. We never receive it.

How the Tool Works

Every modern screen has a different pixel density (measured in pixels per inch, or PPI). A generic image of a ruler will appear at different real-world sizes on a 4K monitor, a budget laptop, and an iPhone. Online Ruler Pro fixes this with a one-time calibration step: you drag a calibration box to match the width of a standard credit card (85.6 mm by ISO/IEC 7810 standard). The tool then calculates your screen exact pixels-per-centimeter ratio and uses it for all future measurements.

After calibration, accuracy is within plus or minus 0.5 mm on most modern screens, comparable to a physical school ruler. The ruler renders using HTML5 canvas for sharp tick marks at any zoom level.

What the Site Is Built On

Site Information

Online Ruler Pro launched in January 2026. The site is owned and operated by the Online Ruler Pro team. We continuously improve calibration accuracy, add new measurement utilities, and publish guides about measurement and screen density in the blog section.
